Why is it called The Big Ben- explained in 100 words.
First image that pops into your mind when someone talks about London is The Big Ben.

Big Ben (London’s most famous landmark) is not the name of the tower but the bell which is fitted inside it. This tower is the eponym of the Welsh civil engineer- Sir Benjamin Hall, who oversaw the installation of this bell but some believe it is after the English heavyweight champion Benjamin Caunt.
This famous landmark was renamed as Elizabeth Tower in 2012 to honour the diamond jubilee of late Queen Elizabeth II.
Going ahead with the explanation it can be said the bell was named in regards to the person ( Sir Benjamin Hall) who commissioned the works and its installation under the Queen Victoria’s reign.
